As
a child, I loved the stories of my family: my grandparents' journey from a small village in eastern Europe to a small town in America, my
parents' chance meeting in London and my mother's decision to marry at eighteen and leave for America (after dating for five short weekends). These stories are
imprinted in me. They are part of who I am.
There are, however,
many more that we have lost, many I never knew. I have so many questions but I lost the
opportunity to ask them before it was too late. As I
considered the passing of a generation of my relatives, I felt a deep
loss that we hadn't safeguarded their stories, my heritage. For many in my family, it was too late. I began to document the others.
I came to think of
one's life story as legacy a few years ago. Following a serious
illness, I realized two important things. I recognized how important it
is that my daughter learns about the life I've led, the lessons I've
learned, the stories that have shaped me. I realized it is a daunting
task to do this alone. How much better to have a guide - someone to
receive the stories as you tell them, to gently probe and discover, and
then to organize and shape them artfully into a book. From this, Pass the Torch Productions was born.
I
have a diverse background. With a Master's Degree in Expressive Arts
Therapy, I bring an ability to listen sensitively and guide gently. As
a business owner for twenty years, I have an ease with all aspects of
project management. I can oversee a process from concept to completion.
